Directorate shall mainly be utilised by the Crime Investigations Directorate (CID) felonies Internet is facing risks of being killed as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto fails to embrace principles of Internet governance.

The system based at Police headquarters in Naguru is to be piloted in the 10 divisions that make up Kampala Metropolitan. According to media reports, the Deputy Director Research and Development at National Information Technology Authority (NITA), Dr. Frederick Kitoogo pledged provision of Internet access to the centre.
