The Uganda police force has developed a digital crime management system to facilitate crime monitoring in the country.

The system developed under the police force’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre for innovation and Entrepreneurship Excellence. The Centre was established in 2014 by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura in collaboration with Microsoft Corporation.

Directorate shall mainly be utilised by the Crime Investigations Directorate (CID) felonies Internet is facing risks of being killed as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto fails to embrace principles of Internet governance.

The system based at Police headquarters in Naguru is to be piloted in the 10 divisions that make up Kampala Metropolitan. According to media reports, the Deputy Director Research and Development at National Information Technology Authority (NITA), Dr. Frederick Kitoogo pledged provision of Internet access to the centre.

Uganda security agencies have in the past few years been involved in equipping their personnel with digital skills and tools without transparent mechanisms to the citizens.
