AMPLIFIED 2023 - EASTERN UGANDA
We sought to empower and uplift people with disabilities (PWD) in six districts in Eastern Uganda. The project identified the need for PWD organizations to have a digital presence and be equipped with digital skills to advocate for their rights and amplify their voices. To address this need, Amplified designed and developed websites for PWD organizations in Jinja, Mbale, Kamuli, Luuka, Mayuge, and Iganga. This provided them with a platform to showcase their work, network with stakeholders, and communicate their needs to the public and policymakers.
In addition to website development, Amplified will also provide comprehensive digital skills training to PWD organizations. This training covered various aspects of digital skills and rights, such as digital security, online safety, and digital advocacy. To further enhance the digital skills of PWD organizations, Amplified provided computers and internet access to these organizations. By providing PWD organizations with these essential digital tools, Amplified seeks to create a more inclusive and empowered digital community for PWDs in Eastern Uganda.The project team members carried out a field survey in Eastern Uganda to identify the appropriate beneficiaries. The following organizations were selected;
1. Mbale District Union of Persons With Disabilities {MUPD}
