The Anti-Terrorism law was enacted to suppress acts of terrorism, by providing for the punishment of persons who plan, instigate, support, finance or execute acts of terrorism.
The regulation further prescribes terrorist organizations and provides for the punishment of persons who are members of or may have publicly professed to be members of such organizations, as well as those who convene or attend meetings or facilitate the activities of terrorist organizations;
The act was assented to on the 21st May 2002, and thereafter commenced on the 7th June 2002
